Jeremiah Benoit on April 5, 2018 at 1:07 pm Hello Charmaine! I have been doing these workouts for a little over a month now, singing has become easier and I’ve been noticing some significant growth. I have however been noticing that muscles in my throat have been getting sore. The last workout I did got them to the point where they we’re very swollen and I needed to consult a physician. My doctor told me to hold off on singing for a while until it heals. Is it possible there somethings i’m doing wrong? How can I avoid this or maybe strengthen up those muscles so that this doesn’t happen anymore? Charmaine on April 5, 2018 at 1:53 pm Hey Jeremiah! Glad to hear that you’ve noticed growth in your voice! The issue you’re describing sounds like potentially a combination of over-singing (perhaps too many workouts… singing songs, etc…. when your voice hasn’t been used to this much training all at once)… and also maybe some wrong technique (pushing up chest voice on some of the exercises, excess tension in the high range, etc.). All of this causes swelling and inflammation in the vocal muscles, and the absolute best thing you can do is rest your voice until the swelling comes down. It may just be for a few days that you need to rest, or if there’s excessive swelling, perhaps a few weeks. Have you watched through my “Taking Care of Your Voice” videos? I definitely recommend watching all of those videos… https://theworshipvocalist.com/category/taking-care-of-your-voice/ … and making sure you’re viewing your voice as holistic… your WHOLE body is the instrument… so take into account eating, drinking, resting, etc. etc. Make sure you’re warming up your voice sufficiently EVERY time you sing (see my video in that course on warming up). When your voice is feeling better, I would suggest taking a day of rest between vocal workouts. Just do the exercises every second day for awhile and see how that goes! And also, when your voice is feeling better, I would suggest that you submit an “Analyze My Voice” recording to me at some point… that way I can pinpoint areas in your voice and vocal technique that are most likely causing the inflammation, and steer you in the right direction. Hope that helps! Praying healing, rest, and full recovery on your voice right now!! Princess_Di on February 14, 2018 at 8:28 pm Thanks Charmaine!…i got some good advice, and tips!…Awesome!!! Charmaine on February 15, 2018 at 8:26 am You’re welcome! HolliPsalms91 on December 10, 2017 at 6:24 am I thought there used to be downloads here because this workout is what I usually play while I get ready on Sunday mornings. Can y’all please tell me where I can find the female full vouce workout download? Jason on December 10, 2017 at 6:51 am Hey Holli! You must be thinking of the Sunday Morning warmup on Taking Care of Your Voice Lesson 2 “Vocal Warmups”! These webinar workouts were always just a video, but the warmups over there have the full audio version you can work out with! Charmaine on December 10, 2017 at 10:27 am Hey Holli! Yeah, as Jason said, this video (and all the webinars that were recorded live on Facebook) have never had audio downloads. I definitely recommend the Sunday morning workout in “Taking Care of Your Voice” for Sunday mornings! It’s designed to warm up the voice gradually so that you get the most out of your voice and protect it from damage! https://theworshipvocalist.com/takingcareofyourvoice-vocal-warmups/ Or, you may be thinking of the “Full Voice Workout” at the end of the “Discover Your Voice” course. https://theworshipvocalist.com/discover-song-application/ HolliPsalms91 on October 11, 2017 at 2:24 pm This was so much fun! I think my six year old little boy and I are going to have a blast doing this video every day so please leave it up forever! 🙂 I love it love it love it!
