Hi,

I am new to this technique and have some doubts, hope you can help me we that.
I am familiar with the feel of the chest and head voices and aware of the break between them.
I am able to use the winy sound but trying to understand if I should lean on that voice while going up or just project the sound to that area.
While trying to lean on that It feels like I am pushing my chest voice but now with nasality and when not pushing and going to head voice with that projection I feel the same thin head voice just with more vibration/ping, but it still lacks power and support.
Hope you can help me to clarify that.

  Hi Amit! I understand what you’re asking — one thing that’s important to understand about building your mix voice is that it FIRST requires you to have a strong foundation of both head and chest voice. If your head voice is weaker than your chest voice, then adding pharyngeal to your higher range notes won’t result in a powerful mix — it will be as you describe, just a thin head voice with some extra “ping”/brightness. So first make sure you build your head and chest voice to be equally comfortable and strong (with head and chest exercises), and then, the process of building your mix is to do many, many different types of mix voice scale exercises that help to blend the three resonators together, so that it’s not just chest + pharyngeal in the lows, head + pharyngeal in the highs.

Where would I use my head voice if at all in Living Hope ? I sing in a low Ab to be able to hit the high notes

  To sing this song in a contemporary style ideally we should be singing in a mix voice, which is a blend of head and chest voice (by engaging pharyngeal resonance). So you would definitely want head voice incorporated in your tone in the choruses!

Is it normal for your voice to get tired if u are doing these excersizes?

  The more you are doing vocal workouts throughout the week (I suggest 3-5x per week), the stronger your voice will become, and so it won’t get fatigued when you are working through a song like this. Also, the more warmed up your voice is before you do these exercises, the better your voice will feel.
